Selamat Hari Malaysia!
Hello everyone! It’s Malaysia Day! If you’re a Semenanjung person who said Happy Birthday, Malaysia on 31 August you have to donate to NGOs in Sabah and Sarawak today. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. Today, I have a very special treat for you! Instead of a forecast for an individual politician, I have a natal chart reading of and forecast for Malaysia by Shahir. Shahir is a lot more knowledgeable about astrology than me and has kindly written this guest post for Malaysia Day:

Insufferable: Malaysia Is A Virgo Sun, Leo Moon, Gemini Rising
Actually scratch that imperfect title because Malaysia is inherently a Virgo stellium – having 4 planets placed in the sign of Virgo (Sun, Venus, Uranus & Pluto). To understand Malaysia is to understand our obsessive needs to be of service to the country which could be a revered trait and humbling aspect for some folks to embody, but it could also play out as being hypercritical and persecutory of others who don’t align themselves to that specific idea of “service” – sounds like our history! Malaysia’s birth chart indicates a deep sense of devotion to the home, identity and ancestry with its heavy 4th House Virgo placements, just look at how many sets of politicians, political parties and their sense of loyalty to the rakyat we currently have! Our politicians are truly embodying that messy Virgo archetype who lovesss being of service and thinking they are the brainy problem-solvers when they don’t actually check on themselves as being THE PROBLEM.
As a 4th House Virgo nation, what we don’t necessarily internalize is what HOME causes or RAKYAT are we truly being of service to? Is it just a performance of our conscious ego and self-identity (Sun) as a country to have an inflated “I am a fixer”-attitude without truly knowing the subject one is dedicated to fixing (water-polluting factories vs. rakyat’s clean water)? The presence of Venus in Virgo glorifies this nature of the Sun (by conjuction) by integrating the topic of service to be closely linked to that of UNITY and connections (Venus rules love and all pretty things).
It is not surprising that we enjoy playing the superficial Venusian “togetherness” card because that has an imprint to our sense of devotion, our sense of identity, our sense of pride as a country. The recipe seems to magically work on surface-level somehow despite the reality of division and discriminatory policies. [JAKIM: Think of those empty muhibbah slogans.] Two more of our other planets in Virgo are Uranus and Pluto, they are slower moving planets which indicate a more subtle yet radical changes we have to go through to truly unearth the gift of Virgo.
A deep death and transformative process (Pluto) of Malaysia’s sense of belonging and questioning of origin (immigration, race demographic, indigenous rights to their lands) has to happen someday, as it is already happening slowly right now. The archetype of the rebel (Uranus) is within our natal promise as a nation – and it will happen once a more articulate understanding of our home issues are brought to surface since Virgo needs data to refine and support themselves towards their craft. Currently, transiting Uranus is in Malaysia’s 12th House thus it could be about rebelling against things which have been kept hidden (12th House) and self-indulgent behaviours (Taurus): CORRUPTION BY THE POWERFUL & UNSUSTAINABLE RESOURCE PRACTICES! Astrologically, Uranus in Gemini (July 2025 – May 2033) could be of an important transit for Malaysia to witness the outward rebellion and possibly a breakthrough of the rights to free speech and greater sharing of information in the country. Our Gemini rising (with Mercury in Libra) really sets us up for an adaptable nation which is able to promote greater justice through its policy-making agenda and clear communication. I don’t think we are living up to our birthright as Malaysians are sooo used to having flip-floppy and u-turn in policies which we somehow tolerate as a statusquo – like a true scatter-brained air sign (Gemini) incapable of deciding on any matters (Libra). This Virgo Sun-Gemini Rising-Mercury Libra combo is the wonderful side of being an Anal Malaysia, I mean Anak Malaysia!

I’m not going to discuss our Leo Moon placement since it has been decided by TwitterJaya to be an insufferable archetype and truly as a nation, Malaysia has an INNATE CRAVING TO BE SEEN AS A LEADER, especially by neighbouring countries and the region with its 3rd House placement. Maybe when Singapore left Malaysia, they took the Lion (Singa) archetype with them, and somehow stripped us away from our own SHINE =( and we never really recovered from that emotionally? Well, it is a possible theory considering Singapore has a Leo Sun – which is a great placement astrologically because Leo is Sun’s Home. Regardless, we are definitely compatible as frenemies since similar Sun-Moon passes the compatibility test. Bye Singapore, it’s interesting to consider that we used to share a similar birth chart of a “nation”!
HAPPY 57th YEAR MALAYSIA!
Honouring our Nujum Pak Belalang, Mona Fandey and Raja Bomoh archetypes, I’m going to do a simple year ahead forecast for our beloved country:
There is a great possibility of the country to be seen on the global stage in the next year cycle (16 September 2020 – 15 September 2021) – perhaps Malaysia will get famous for a new invention technologically or we receive support from foreign countries towards those inventions as transit Jupiter moves into Aquarius during that period. I just hope it’s not about religious leaders being technologically-savvy who then disseminate more hate than love in the country since that’s also a possibility with the Jupiter transit. It is somewhat an optimistic yet eccentric transit to be in with a deeper focus on accountability and collective visions, as we all know Wawasan 2020 was a hoax!
Pisces season (Feb – March 2021) is an important period for us to acknowledge our dreams, our direction and legacy as a country – I wonder what topic this newsletter will cover by then. Our faith in the existing system is heavily questioned already and there would be an expansion of responsibilities of what we have to bear through to survive the next cycle. It is worth mentioning that Malaysia is going through our Saturn return within the next 3 years – Saturn returns are known for its role to realign our values with our embodiment: a “you reap what you sow” moment and I am ready with my popcorn. Basically, those who say shit, but don’t do shit, will get hit!
If a lot of Malaysians are feeling hopeless with the current Government and concerned about the depressing economic environment there is definitely a peek-a-boo moment of hope and abundance when Jupiter enters Pisces on 13th May to late July for our country. Holding on to hope and our community is the best thing to do through this difficult and uncertain times…!
XO.
